Colombia August 2018 Missionary Retreat- Fort Mill
Welcome to the August 2018 Forest Hill Colombia Trip page!
Our group from Forest Hill Church Fort Mill will be traveling to Colombia to work with South America Mission (SAM), a Forest Hill AIM Partner that has been working to see the Church of Jesus Christ multiplied and transforming communities in South America for more than a century. SAM’s missionary community and partners work to share the gospel, reproduce authentic disciples of Jesus, plant churches, train leaders and equip God’s people to minister transformationally.
Trip Focus:
South America Mission's missionaries in Colombia are the face of Forest Hill’s partnership with that country. Caring for these missionaries and their kids is one way in which key evangelistic projects survive and remain relevant. In August, Forest Hill has the opportunity to help care for all 8 missionary units in Colombia during their annual retreat. Our team will have the task of providing a solid three-day kids program to missionary children while their parents attend the conference. We'll also have the opportunity to spend a couple of days doing community projects in Bogota, which may include serving with locals working on improvement projects for orphan ministry facilities, community center improvements, and neighborhood garden projects. This trip will be led by Lou Miller and team meetings will be held in the Fort Mill area.
Being able to speak Spanish isn't a requirement, but is recommended for this trip.

If you haven’t done so already, please add your passport information to your ServiceReef profile. This will help us to streamline our trip processes as we work to move everything online. Please see the PDF for step-by-step instructions. Even if we have your passport on file from a previous trip, we will need you to add this information.
FHC & SAM Liability Waivers Required
The FHC & MOH liability waivers must be completed for every trip, regardless of past participation.
Requirements
Prerequisites
- Must have a valid passport that does not expire before February 8, 2019
- Trip Participants must be 18 years or older
Preparation
- Apply for the trip and pay the non-refundable $110 deposit
- Fill out the forms and upload your passport under the Forms tab
- Create personalized trip page
- Check the CDC website for updated information on recommended immunizations http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/
- Commit to attending 6-8 team meetings, including the debrief meeting after the trip returns
- Participate in at least 1 local serve project with your team
- Make sure 100% of all trip fees are submitted 10 days prior to departure
