This morning the four of us (David, Amy, Shane, Matt) joined the elders of Esperanza Church to share with them the impact that LifeGroups have had for us and and to tell them a bit about the workshop that we are leading on Saturday. One of the most beneficial parts of our time was the practice we got by beginning to tell our stories. Afterward, we all talked about how much more comfortable we felt and how it seems like God is crafting the words that we need to speak.

After the meeting, we were given a tour of the school which is connected to the church (pictured). The school has a very good reputation in the city and has about 600 kids who as a part of their education hear the gospel.

We then sat down with Pastor Julio to prepare the workshop that we will be leading on Saturday. We were excited and a little bit nervous to learn that there will be more than double the number of participants we were expecting.

I want to leave you with a few particular ways that you can pray for us.

1) pray for the content of our workshop.
Matt is providing a biblical basis for why churches should do small groups and leading everyone through an exercise about how to ask good questions of scripture.
Shane is leading two sessions on the importance of fellowship.
Amy is leading two sessions on the necessity of serving others and evangelism.
David is leading two sessions on the bible study portion of a group.

2) pray for the people coming.
There will be people from Santa Marta, Gaida, Once de Noviembre, Riohacha and elsewhere coming to hear what we have to say about LifeGroups. Most have never experienced the benefit of small group ministry. We want our words to be simple and clear and for God to multiply the number of people.

3) pray for Matt.
On Sunday, he is preaching to the congregation at Esperanza Church on the value of LifeGroups. The church leaders hope that this workshop and sermon will effectively launch groups ministry. That people in the church will see the opportunity and consider it worth whatever it may cost to join or lead a group.

Thank you for your prayers and support.
