I am the Vine, you are the Branches

Bonswa zanmi!

Today was full of good vibes and a lot of sweat and hard work! We went out into Minoterie and planted fruit trees for 22 families. These trees included cherry, mango, lemon, coconut, and almond. We were greeted by beautiful and gracious families who shared their stories and prayer requests. We prayed not only that their trees would be fruitful, but that they would serve as a reminder of God’s love for them. We explained to the families that the tree was a symbol that God is the vine and we are the branches.

After planting the trees, we were able spend some quality time with the kids in the village. This was bittersweet because it was the last time we would see them before we head back to the states, and as we all know, kids spell love T-I-M-E. This was our last day to spend with them because we have a relaxing beach day planned tomorrow at a resort about an hour away from where we are staying.

After playing with the kids, we took a walk down the beach of Minoterie and stumbled upon a couple of fisherman sewing their nets, which looked like a scene out of the Bible. Don’t worry, we took pictures!

With this being our last workday, we are going to take this evening to reflect on the time we have spent here. The days were long and the work was hard, but every single minute spent here has changed us for the better. We will leave this place as better versions of ourselves. We will leave this place as close friends. We will leave this place knowing that there is more work to be done, but we are so grateful to have had this opportunity. What a privilege it was to be able to be the hands and feet of the One who paid it all!

Thank you all for following our journey here in Haiti this past week! We cannot wait to share our experiences with all of you! #Haitiorbust2016
