We had a great first day working here in Guatemala!! After an early start to get the dental clinic up and running, we started seeing patients around 8:30am. We were able to treat students and teachers, even doing a root canal! We are SO excited about the extra help we have this week. We were surprised to learn about a local pediatric dentist that was willing to help in the clinic every morning, as well as 2 dental students that are here to assist and translate! So many extra hands means more kids we get to help!! Praise!

Meanwhile, our medical team went out into the community for house visits, accompanied by super nurse Janina. They were able to help adults in the community that suffer from diabetes and high blood pressure. Our team is providing education, while trying to understand medication usage and prevention in an area with little to no resources.

Around the dinner table tonight we discussed how the “American” way of working towards money, fame, and achievement is a pressure filled life without much happiness. In Christ, we have an eternal perspective. Our goals change. We live to love God and love people. So that’s our prayer this week.
Love God. Love people.
